A |     Ranveer Singh has publicly apologised after criticism erupted over his mimicry of a pivotal scene from Rishab Shetty's Kantara: Chapter 1 during the IFFI 2025 closing ceremony in Goa. The moment drew strong reactions because Rishabh was seated in the audience, and many felt Ranveer’s imitation came across as insensitive, especially after he referred to the daivas as “ghosts.” Social media users quickly called out the act, saying it disrespected cultural beliefs shown in the film.           On Tuesday morning, Ranveer addressed the situation through a statement on his Instagram Stories. He clarified that his intention was only to appreciate Rishabh Shetty’s craft, writing, “My intention was to highlight Rishabh's incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it would take to perform that particular scene in the way that he did, for which he has my utmost admiration (sic).” Emphasising his respect for cultural diversity, he added, “I have always deeply respected every culture, tradition and belief in our country. If I've hurt anyone's sentiments, I sincerely apologise.”     The controversy began when Ranveer recreated Shetty’s Daiva performance from the film’s climax and praised him directly from the stage. During his bit, he said, "I watched Kantara Chapter 1 in theatres, and Rishab, it was an outstanding performance, especially when the female ghost (Chamundi daiva) enters your body - that shot was amazing." While Rishabh Shetty was seen laughing in the moment, many later pointed out that calling daivas ghosts was inaccurate and disrespectful, as they are considered forest deities.                Things escalated when additional footage surfaced showing Rishabh Shetty advising Ranveer not to mimic him, which sparked even more backlash. The moment has now opened a wider conversation about how public figures refer to culturally significant performances on major platforms. Ranveer’s apology continues to circulate online, drawing a mix of understanding and criticism. Rishabh has not issued a formal statement, and Ranveer is preparing for the release of Dhurandhar later this week. Also Read: Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s exchange over Ranveer’s Madame Tussauds statues wins hearts。    Kuala Lumpur, Oct 20 (UNI) Malaysia will hold the general election on November 19, the country's election commission said on Thursday.

The nomination of candidates will be held on November 5, providing two weeks for official election campaigning, commission chairman Abdul Ghani Salleh told a press conference.

There will be 363,515 election workers who will operate 8,958 voting centers across the country to serve a total of 21,173,638 registered voters, the official said.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob dissolved parliament on October 10, paving the way for a snap election, citing the need to end the political uncertainty which has seen two prime ministers appointed since 2020 following the resignation of former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad in February of that year.

Muhyiddin Yassin was sworn in as the prime minister on March 1, 2020 but later resigned following the withdrawal of support by members of parliament from his own coalition. Ismail Sabri was then appointed as the prime minister on August 21, 2021.
